Here’s what you can expect during the Pre-Conference Workshop at the ICAR Congress:

SAR TOPO, Mapping and Search Planning by Matt Jacobs

This class covers a new approach to search planning built around the ICS Planning P and modern online mapping tools. We'll walk through a full planning cycle starting with an analysis of GPS tracks and clues, develop likely scenarios and identify matching search strategies, formulate a list of incident objects, and end with the development of quality segmentation and an Incident Action Plan. Along the way, we'll cover the influence of terrain on lost person behavior, best practices in modern mapping technology, and data management on large incidents.

Jim Warren from Yellowstone National Park will also present a multi week lost person search and the use of SAR TOPO incorporating AI in search planning by Roy Hayes Jr., Ph.D.
